How to knit a rug with clothes?

To knit with old clothes, you need to cut the cloth into strips and tie the pieces together to make a ball of "yarn" to knit with, or just a pile. The you would want to use large needles (13's at least, I would think) and make a rectangle or whatever shape you want the rug(s) to be.
