How to cope with my lose after graduation?

The guy I'm practically in love with is graduating, which is okay I mean everyone loses someone in there life. But then today I found out that the only reason he doesn't want to start a relationship is that he doesn't want to go off to college and then find someone else better and then brake up with me. I understand that this is a good thing and he is looking after me, but I want to date him, I don't even care if he finds someone else. I think knowing that I'm not good enough would allow me to move on where as this isn't. He also doesn't tell anyone anything abut what he is feeling, so how am I supposed to get this across to him? Please help.
